Marketing On A Tight Budget -- Creating Profitable Trade Show Booths

A common belief about trade show booths is that their cost directly determines their effectiveness. This is false, in fact, and sometimes the need to be extra creative causes those with smaller budgets to come up with far better results. Granted, selecting a terribly outdated or decrepit model isn't always the best either. A successful trade show booth depends on the planning and design ideas behind it. This means smaller budgets simply need to think outside the box and make smart purchases.

Smarten Up Existing Trade Show Booths

If you already have trade show booths from previous years, you may already have most of what you need. Look at the smaller components such as brochures, features, and graphics to update and fit the existing forms into your new marketing plan. Depending on the supplies you already have, you might also be able to design a different configuration to update the equipment. To get started, examine each piece carefully and decide how you can alter each one to match up.

Buy Used Exhibits Instead Of New

It is common to see big businesses with equally large budgets discard and purchase entire new exhibits year after year. Why not capitalize on this and purchase used trade show booths. Many of these are hardly used and are often high-end products at a fraction of the cost.

An endless number of varieties are available and all you need to do is decide how to customize it to fit into your company and current marketing strategies. Many of the retailers who sell used displays also repair them making it easy and convenient to purchase these styles.

You might even want to consider damaged or those with missing pieces since they generally carry an extremely low price tag. With a bit of imagination, you may be able to create a unique and customized piece that is considerably better than many of the standard designs with brand new materials.

Marketing Alternatives

With extremely small marketing budgets, it might be next to impossible to meet the needs of a large trade show. This is particularly true of entrepreneurs and small businesses. If this is the case for you, don't fret about missing out on these marketing opportunities.

A professional sales representative may be enough to get you started. However, be sure to choose an expert who is knowledgeable in your particular industry and is willing to get to know your products, goals, and company values. If you are in the retail market, you may also be able to have your products featured in a wholesale gift showroom.

This idea is particularly helpful if you are preparing to launch new products or marketing concepts. If it fails, you minimize the financial loss. If you would still like to present your products and services at an exhibition, consider cost sharing with another complementing business.

An exhibition with a great design is the recipe for a successful increase in customers. They allow you to grow the word of mouth advertising and excitement around your business. While it would always be nice to have an unlimited budget to purchase the needed items, it isn't a must. Imagination, a goal, and careful planning will allow small budget trade show booths to accomplish the same if not more than those with a higher price tag.
